Fraser Coast

The Fraser Coast is home to two World Heritage listed areas, Fraser Island – the largest sand island in the world, with spectacular coloured sands, freshwater lakes and towering rainforests, and the Great Barrier Reef – a vibrant sea life area famous the world over.

The Fraser Coast is also home to the capital of whale watching, Hervey Bay, where from July to November you can get up close to humpbacks frolicking in the calm blue waters with their calves before migrating south to the cool Antarctic waters.

At Hervey Bay you will find 40 kilometres of long sandy swimming beaches, abundant marine life and pristine national parks. Hervey Bay is also a popular gateway to the most southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef and Fraser Island.

Bordered by 40 kilometres of stunning coastline, Hervey Bay offers access to Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, and Lady Elliot Island the most southern coral cay of the Great Barrier Reef. Hervey Bay Australia is also the best destination to experience whale watching season.
